Week 18 Challenge - Valentine

Week 18 Challenge - Valentine

Couple Image - stock-foto-graf-hi.deviantart.com/art/farytale-272619944

I tried to tie all the images together with the roses and dove. I used 2 main textures on all images from 2 Lil Owls Textures (2LO Distressed 6 and 2LO distressed 23) also some other textures and lots of other stuff. Well it is almost February 14th.

Under Your Spell

So this started out as a practice piece. I had a blank white image and I added the woman - I didn't bother to resize her, just wanted to play around with some techniques. Tried a little of this and a little of that and ended up liking her image. I also liked the white spaces around her but thought why not add some trees - well if you add trees you need birds and if you have birds you need bigger birds. Now this was OK but I still didn't like the pure white so I used two new textures from 2 Lil' Owl Studio and that finished off the image.

The Hat

Nothing fancy. A vintage picture - I added the doorway and stairs, trees, ghost, bird, cats, writing and lots of texture and blending modes. I just felt something needed to be in the doorway - it looked like a black hole.  Once I added the ghost the bird and cats followed.

Misfit

More of a sketchy look on this one. Lots of layering, blending modes, filters, textures and painting.

The Stairwell

I wanted to do a more sketchy image - not quite what I had in mind but fun to make. Lots of textures, coloring and overlays plus a crow!!! I need to work on what I envision but I do rather like this image. How can you go wrong when you add a crow.

Sparrows

Lots of extracts, layers, textures and blending modes. It has been so cold and snowy here I feel so sorry for the poor birds. I have been keeping the feeder full but not too many takers in this cold. I love these little birds!!!!

The Ice Queen

It is so cold here I can't think of anything but ice. I am also feeling very uninspired - I think everything I do is predictable and looks the same.  Time to change it up somehow.  Maybe I need to simplify or do some landscapes.  Hmmmm - not sure of my direction right now.  I need to think on this.

Keeping Secrets

This was a vintage B&W image I added the wallpaper, text and rose.  I also colored the main image and added some texture and blending modes.  I really enjoy coloring B&W images. Below is the original.

Someone To Watch Over Me

Plus lots of other stuff and textures added. There is just something about this image that I love - I am very happy with it.

Spirit Guides

Created for 42nd MMM Challenge

Source image with thanks to Tim Lenz aka Seabamirum

Another challenge - we were given the owl image.  Other images I added (bear, wolves, moon, horses, crow, background and textures) are things I have collected over the years. The main image of the Indian man is Which Way, a Crow Warrior 1905 by Edward S. Curtis.

Pied Piper of the Atlantic

I took a trip to Bay Head this past Wednesday to take some pics of the ocean - it was so foggy but so beautiful. The waves were huge. The background is one of my photos. I added sea gulls in the sky, the larger gull on the sand and the image of the girl and faded her out a bit. Lots of textures and blending modes.

Cinnamon Girl

Cinnamon Girl - B&W vintage pic, a few blended backgrounds and lots of texture layers and blending modes. I wish I could say it was me in the image - I do have red hair but not that perfect profile - sigh!!!! I am in love with the reddish brown texture I used in this image - it doesn't work for everything but it sure works here.

Atlantic City

Atlantic City - Still into the grunge and vintage look. Also seeing Bruce on Jimmy Fallon last night got me thinking about "Meet Me Tonight In Atlantic City".  I live on the Jersey Shore about 40 miles or so north of Atlantic City. This image is a major compilation - the top is two old vintage postcards blended together the middle the ocean and the bottom right a life boat from the beach and of course my bathing beauty. Also a number of textures and blending modes to give it that "old" postcard look. I remember walking on that boardwalk and I remember that Planters shop - Mr. Peanut would be outside - such a long time ago.

Two New Images

The Flower Girl - looks like I forgot to post yesterday so today you get a two for.  These two couldn't be more different.  Above my pretty little flower girl below Night Moves - way more of a grunge look and feel.  I am sick of the pretty and want to get back to a more dirty look - for now!

Free To Fly

Challenge 17 - Free To Fly
I know a few friends who have overcome overwhelming odds and are living their lives and are happy. This is for them. My image actually turned out to be 7X7 and I can't wait to get a print.  I sure am busy today working in Photoshop and having fun.  It is sunny but cold and windy a good day to stay in.

This was the challenge: SEVENTEENTH Weekly Challenge:

It is so easy nowadays to slip into "communicating" with nothing more than a text message or a Facebook post or an occasional email ... Even with those we care about most.

This assignment is about changing that, and about creating a piece of art and sending it to someone just to show that you care for them — and that they MATTER.

Titanic

I have no idea where I got the image of the two women but I thought they looked like they were planning a sea cruise. I thought maybe the 1900's or so and decided to pair them with the Titanic. Morbid, maybe, but I like to tell a story with my images if I can and this sure does.

Dancing Queen

Dancing Queen - Lots of extracts and layers - blending modes and other neat stuff. I want to get back to a more artsy, sketchy look for my images.

Grey Day Atlantic

I live about 10 minutes or less from the beach - I used to live right on Ocean Avenue across from the ocean. This image is a compilation of 2 photos I took on the beach in Bay Head. I wanted the girl on the beach but decided to add the dune for balance. Also added some textures and blending modes - nothing fancy.

Shoot The Moon

Lots of extracts, layers, textures, birds and blending modes. I thought I had lost my edge I was uninspired until last night I saw a car commercial with a moon and a highway and this is what I made this AM.  You never can tell where you will get inspiration - even a TV commercial

The Secret

Getting closer to what I want but not there yet - but I do like this one better than my vintage image from yesterday. This is a bit more edgy.

Outside The Gate

Sometimes you have a clear vision of what you want to do - I thought I did with this image but this is not it.  Sometimes images just evolve and you have to accept it.  This is not at all what I had in mind for today and I think maybe if I had not used a vintage portrait I would have gotten more of what I wanted.  Well next time - since I know where I went wrong.

Mangroves

Mangroves - What I was interested in was the roots and the tangles I just added the figure for some balance. This is a little more color than I envisioned I was thinking more B&W but this works.

Challenge 16 - Time Passes

I just don't know where the day goes. I need to better plan my day and make better use of my time. I think if I did this it would make a world of difference in what I accomplish and how I feel about myself. I know every second cannot be planned out but it is important to make your time count. I think the more time you have the more you waste.  When I worked I got so much more done than I do now.

Rosie

Girl image with individual roses added.  A few textures and blending modes on top.  Just playing around a bit last night.

Another Inness Landscape

Like I said before I love George Inness's landscapes.  I decided to make another digital tribute.  This image does not exist - it is made up of 5 different images blended together.  On top of it all are a few textures and blending modes.   The inspiration is a real Inness painting below.

Here is another blog post with my first Inness image and information about the artist.

The Darkness is Coming

I am finally getting back to creating some digital art work - it has been awhile.  I had some computer issues but hopefully it is all resolved.
