Still With Nest

I am taking a Still Life photography class - just starting. This is my first photo and I think I am going to really like this class.  I find something very poetic about still life images and am always drawn to them.  I was looking for something new for 2019 and I think I am going to be happy taking these type of photos.  My problem is to restrain myself so they maintain the look of a photo and not one of my digital art images.  I just did a little adjusting in iColorama and added an edge filter in Formulas.   I have a tendency to try to soften the image rather that let it be crisp like a photo.  Something to think about as I proceed.

I have a strange desire to work on snowy images today. This is a photo from PA from a number of years ago. This was my back yard. We have no snow in NJ right now and I am good with that.

A photo from earlier this year.  I am playing with light and did a lot of work on this photo.  Looking for moodiness and drama. I am hoping to do a lot more still life photography this coming year.

Created the BG added the blurry photo and then use a lot of brushes from Nicki Fitz-Gerald’s Urban Brush Set. Just messing around but this is moving towards the type of image I want to make for the coming year but less busy.

Today Karen Burns posted a photo of a Christmas tree made out of old silverware.  I was smitten.  I ran into the dinning room and pulled out my mom’s old silverware and one of her cookie cutters.  I played with the arrangement, added a pine cone, small balls and holly.  I took the photo and brought it over to my iPad and used iColorama to alter it.  This was fun to make and brought back wonderful memories using my mom’s stuff.

I went over to the nursery and took a ton of poinsettia photos. I think they cringe when they see me coming!! This is a combination of a couple flower photos and my little birdie that I did buy there in the summer. This image is for a FB challenge called "Red".
