Imagination

Created for Digitalmania Group Challenge - www.flickr.com/groups/digitalmania/

"This world is but a canvas for our imagination"

The challenge is to create a picture to illustrate the quote or, if you like, any affirmative quote regarding art.

I did use that quote and wanted to portray my imagination which can be quite weird.  I also want to have an artsy feel to the image and include some form of actual art. I finished it with a canvas texture.

Window frame, ballerina, sparkle, row boat, rope, starfish and seaweed - purchased from Mischiefcircus - http://mischiefcircus.com

The Brothers Grimm published it in 1812 in the first edition of their collection Grimms' Fairy Tales. The fairy tale features such elements as the magic mirror, the poisoned apple, the glass coffin, and the characters of the evil queen, snow white and the seven dwarfs.

Girls - from a vintage photograph - extracted, made to look like a drawing and colored

Light posts, hat flowers and vintage car - Mischiefcircus - http://mischiefcircus.com

Background - created using a city and landscape image, vectors, brushes, overlays and a texture

This was an interesting challenge for me - this image is just so different from what I would ever think of doing and that is why I love challenges.  Below is the image I started with to make this digital collage. I extracted the girls, ran some filters to make them appear as a drawing and then colored them - all in Photoshop Elements. Once I had my girls I then created the background image. Lots of fun I think I will do some more of these.

This is image number 9 in my series Outside/Inside - using exterior and interior backgrounds and vintage extracts. I want them to look like they were actual photos. I am going to reuse a lot of the elements in each image - I want to tie them together by subject, repeated objects and vintage coloring. I am going to continue this series in 2015.

Sandy Hook

Two photos I took at Sandy Hook on the NJ shore last weekend. It was a beautiful day pretty warm and sunny.  Took the photos with my new iPhone6.  I took them into Photoshop and played around with a few filters and textures - nothing too much. I made the second one much cooler than the first image.  I also changed the sky in both - using skies from other photos that I thought were more interesting. I want to do more landscape work this coming year.
